2nd - 9th April 2023 - 1 Space - Split & Mix Course
Level 1 Splitboard Riding Level or
Level 2 Riding Level
Look no further if you want to tick off a wilderness experience that will provide you with memories to last a lifetime. You'll be based 200 km north of the Artic Circle in Riksgränsen. The resort is truly off the grid. Be prepared for riding a variety of conditions and mixing up your skill set. One day you might be hitting a stall feature at sunset and building a camp fire with a few cool beers. The next you could be blasting 40mph across a frozen lake hunting for local powder stashes on a ski-doo. It's all here for the taking.
This course and terrain provides a mix of gentle natural in-bounds pistes with easy access off-piste to more expansive out of bounds exploring via a splitboard, ski-doo or heli (optional). The bias is more to off-piste exploring, but expect to use your twin-tip for in-resort play fun and extra resort scout missions.
Basic Course Schedule (Conditions & Weather Dependent)
Day 1 - In resort shred warm up & evening split mission planning
Day 2 - Splitboard mini mission and technique development
Day 3 - Optional Heli (extra cost), spa recovery or build session
Day 4 - Ski-doo to splitboard explore
Day 5 - Norway resort road trip & evening split mission planning
Day 6 - Splitboard mission, and social sunset fire pit
The course is ideally suited for those at a Riding Level 2 or Splitboard Level 1 standard. They'll be plenty of progression for all riders as you explore this unique landscape in a variety of cool ways. Fresh splitboarders get to build their avi and technical skills in an area that ideally suited for progression whereas seasoned vets get to take on more planning and execution of strike missions as they go beyond just blindly following a guide and layer on the additional skills required to plan and execute their own adventures.
Riksgränsen offers a variety of accommodation options and restaurant options. We book a 3 person self-catering apartment for 2 people. You can also book your own room within their hotel.
A ski-doo is an amazing way to explore the local region. It feels like the wild west with ski-doo's firing around the resort. Our plan it to combine exploring the local area and build up bonus splitboarding missions to access areas that the ski-doo cannot get to. Ski-doo hire is between £125-£150 per day.
For the optional heli, we use Mountain Guide Travel. We recommend the 5 drop day trip, that works out to be around £140 per drop, which is great value. To avoid disappointment we recommend you let us know your intention to fly when you pay your course deposit. That way we can connect them and arrange a reservation. If you haven't flown before we highly recommend this experience.
This course includes:
7 Nights 2 person shared self-catering apartment
5 Days with James - ISTD off-piste certified guide
