Within a few months of establishing Maverix it was obvious that there was a gap in riders fundamental freestyle skills. Many people had been riding for sometime, had buckets of enthusiasm but lacked those micro board control skills or freestyle confidence when it came to riding in the park. This is where our ollies and flatland courses comes in.
We want to open your eyes to how easy it can be with the right coaching to spin, tap, and jump your way down the piste or in the park in a controlled and stylish manner. Before my flatland skills we good I would just be going from A to B. Top to bottom, doing a few turns and although I was stoked to do that, when I watched more experienced riders around me I realised there was much more I could be doing. Now I see every slope as a playground. The sides of the piste become mini jumps for spins, piste poles are obstacles to tap on my way down, little lumps of snow become challenges to jump over. I saw the piste in a totally new light. I was able to be creative and have so much more fun whilst riding, and that’s what we want for you.
Plus with the development of your micro board control skills you’ll significantly reduce your chance of falling and injuring yourself on the slope. Your awareness of how your body effects your board will be so much higher that you’ll start to sense when you’re about to lose control and be able to correct it before it’s too late.
Every flatland session is unique as we discuss your goals and what you want to achieve. You might have seen someone do something cool on the slope that you want to learn, or you just want to be inspired by our top level coaches and prepare for joining one of our freestyle day courses knowing you have the skills and the confidence to take that next step.
Helping you be more creative with your ridingIn addition to the flatland skills we’ll also focus on your ollieing, which is your ability to manipulate the board for jumping. Quite often this will involve and little competition to see who can jump the highest over our now infamous limbo pole. A great little challenge that brings everyone together to finish a session.
We also support your development experience with a raft of on-slope and online tools. The principle being comprehensive video and photo feedback of your course. Access to course materials online via our smartphone enabled web site and extra areas for additional learning via our knowledge centre.
So if you want to take those first steps to freestyle freedom on your snowboard and be able to have extra control and fun with your mates on holiday or in your local snow dome, then you cannot get any better than signing up for this unique and fun product.
